The Grog Bowl

Dear Conscripts and Fellow Travelers,

The Planning Committee is very pleased to announce that the DC Conscripts HUMAN WAVE ‘famous’ (or infamous?) Grog Bowl is BACK again this year!

Originating from a long-time tradition in Britain’s Royal Navy, it carried over to all branches of the US military. Today it has become a means of building esprit de corps and sharing comradeship at special functions.

This year we present the Grog Bowl with a special twist. In addition to the beverages offered by the Planning Committee, all players are invited to bring the beverage of your choice to add to the bowl! For added effect, you are welcome to provide a brief explanation, justification or very short story about your selection! For example, “In recognition of the US 29th Infantry Division’s fighting in Normandy, I add Calvados, the customary drink of Normandy, to the Grog!

While not required, it would be nice if you could let us know what you’re bringing so we can plan accordingly. We’ve updated the Registration Page with a block to complete if you’d like to add something. Alternatively, you can always email.

Game Results Uploaded to ASL Ratings

The technical committee is pleased to offer the following report:

“After days of work converting paper Player Information Sheets to ones and zeros, ordering each digit in its proper sequence and formatting, our technicians achieved a breakthrough and established communications with asl-ratings.org. This allows our tournament players to view their updated their online records in preparation for their next competition. Clearly this significant technical advance is another indication that our victory is inevitable! “

Ratings and Registrations

Conscripts and fellow travelers,

On behalf of the Central Committee, I am pleased to report that a team of our best scientists and engineers has completed their work and successfully uploaded game results from both tournaments in 2021 and 2022 to the player ratings website, ASL Ratings.

And a gentle reminder — time to take advantage of your chance to register early for this year’s tournament is running out! Several of you have wisely, and patriotically, already registered. Take a look at the early registration page for details.

It’s Official!

After considerable discussion and negotiations with the hotel, we are using the same location in 2023 as we did in 2022, the Tysons Corner Marriott at 1960-A Chain Bridge Rd in McLean VA 22102!

We are confirmed for the dates Friday July 7, 2023, to Sunday July 9, 2023. Mark your calendars now! Those of you who like plan ahead can even book your room now using our special group rate of $89/night. Last day to book at this rate is Wednesday, June 7, 2023. See you there!

Ten Days Away!

Conscripts,

We are only 10 days away from the HUMAN WAVE, and Conscripts everywhere are anxiously rubbing their dice together in anticipation. Interest has been so high we’ve had to get some extra space to accommodate the new players, so there will be a lot of gaming going on!

The Logistics Committee has recently confirmed the game room layout with the hotel, see the floorplan.

Significantly we have finalized the Starter Kit scenario list. See the Scenario List page for details.
